Plycem Trim can be installed over steel studs and sheathing. It can also be installed over Structural Insulated Panels, Concrete Masonry Units, and Concrete Block Structures.
Appropriate flashing should be used to prevent moisture penetration around all doors, windows, wall bottoms, material transitions and penetrations. Refer to local codes for best practices.
Plycem Trims have been tested according to ASTM C-1186 and ASTM C-1185
standards and are classified as Type A Grade 1 fiber cement sheets intended
for exterior applications, subjected to the direct action of sun, rain, or snow.
These tests include:
β’ Frost Resistance after 50 cycles showing no cracks or delaminating, and
exposed over control specimens flexural strength ratio of 98%.
β’ Surface Burning Characteristics according to ASTM E-84 showing a flame
spread index = 0 and a smoke development index =0.
β’ Combustibility test according to ASTM E-136 with a weight loss below
50% and passing the no-flame and temperature-difference conditions.
Plycem base sheets used for Trims manufacturing have also received
certifications by Underwriters Laboratories for Surface Burning Characteristics
and Fire Resistance Characteristics that can be accessed on the UL site.
